This 7-day flagship expedition is the definitive 7-day Kenya safari itinerary for 2027. It connects Kenya’s most iconic landscapes—from the elephant-studded plains of Amboseli beneath Mount Kilimanjaro to the predator-rich savannahs of the Masai Mara. You will traverse the Great Rift Valley, explore rhino sanctuaries, and enjoy boat safaris on freshwater lakes, all while accompanied by expert local guides.

ITINERARY:

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara (Great Rift Valley views)

(265 km, 5 to 6 hours)

Pick up from your Nairobi accommodation is at 7.30 am, and you’ll be taken on a journey through the Great African Rift Valley. You will be stunned and inspired by rolling plains and summits such as Mount Longonot and the Suswa Ranges.

Entering the Masai Mara, you are on the lands of the iconic Masai people, whose villages you’re your journey to your accommodation. After some time to settle into your rooms, your first game drive begins. Be on the look out for the wildlife you’ve been waiting for: giraffes, lions, rhinos, and so many more creatures of the grasslands will be roaming across the landscape.

The evening sees dinner served in your accommodation, when you can prepare for the big day of exploration in the morning.

Day 2: Masai Mara (Full day game drives & optional balloon safari)

The Masai Mara is home to millions of animals, teeming with biodiversity, and filled with eco-systems beyond imagining. Your full day inside Masai Mara will explore the wonders of the plains and show you the stunning animals within.

Acacia trees stud the landscape, animals range through your field of vision, birds flock overhead. Your expert African safari guide will be on hand to track the wildlife and help you identify and understand the creatures of the Serengeti.

This day will present you with a chance given to few – the option of a hot-air balloon safari. Change your perspective of the savanna and trace the movements of the fauna from the air, catching their shadows and contemplating their routes from above.

A visit to a Masai village can also be arranged; a chance to understand the culture of the nomadic warriors of the Great African Rift Valley. A welcoming song and dance is followed by a chance to explore the village, learn something of the way of life of the Masai, and visit a family home. Each of these activities are optional and have extra costs, $450 per person for the balloon safari, and $20 per person to visit the village.

Day 3: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru (Rhino sanctuary and bird watching)

After breakfast, bid farewell to the Masai Mara and make your way to Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for its incredible birdlife and rhino population. As you approach the park, the scenery transforms from arid landscapes to lush vegetation surrounding the lake. Arriving at your chosen lodge or camp, you’ll check-in and enjoy a satisfying lunch that rejuvenates you for the afternoon activities. The afternoon is dedicated to a game drive, where you’ll have the chance to witness the awe-inspiring sight of birdlife on the lake’s shores, as well as spot rhinos, giraffes, and other wildlife against the backdrop of the picturesque lake. As the sun sets, you’ll return to your accommodation for a wholesome dinner and a peaceful night’s rest.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha (Crescent Island boat trip)

Following breakfast, it will be time for you to check out of your accommodation in Lake Nakuru and begin your journey to Lake Naivasha. The drive to the lake will take approximately two hours, offering picturesque views along the way. Upon arrival, you will promptly check in at your lodge. Once you have settled in and enjoyed a satisfying lunch, take a moment to relax before embarking on an exciting afternoon boat safari.

This unique experience will provide you with a spectacular opportunity to witness the diverse and captivating birdlife, as well as observe the graceful presence of hippos, all amidst the tranquil ambiance of this freshwater rift valley lake. Following the boat safari, you will proceed to enjoy a guided walking safari at the renowned Crescent Island, further enriching your connection with nature. The island offers a remarkable chance to explore on foot and encounter wildlife up close. Afterward, return to your lodge, where you can indulge in the delightful tradition of High Tea, followed by a delicious dinner. Spend the evening at your leisure, appreciating the serene surroundings and reflecting on the day’s adventures in anticipation of what lies ahead.

Day 5: Lake Naivasha to Amboseli

After early breakfast and check-out of your camp proceed to Amboseli National Park, renowned for its breathtaking scenery adorned with the majestic snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro as a picturesque backdrop. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed and assisted with the check-in process at your tented camp in Amboseli. Take a moment to savor a delicious lunch and relax briefly. In the afternoon, prepare for an exciting game drive, all while enjoying panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro. As the day winds down, indulge in a delectable dinner and spend a peaceful night at your camp, immersing yourself in the tranquil ambiance of Amboseli National Park.

Day 6: Amboseli (Full day tracking elephants under Mt. Kilimanjaro)

Today you have an early rise for your estimated 6.15am Safari game drive during which you will not only have a perfect view of Mt. Kilimanjaro but also see more of the Amboseli’s great wildlife. Return to the Camp for a relaxed breakfast – rest of the morning at leisure. The camp has a swimming pool. After the sumptuous lunch, take a mid-afternoon safari game drive to further explore the park. Return to the camp by evening (typically 6pm) in time for a relaxed evening which may be enlivened by entertainment provided by the camp, followed by dinner.

Day 7: Amboseli to Nairobi (Sunrise drive & departure)

Following breakfast, it will be time for you to check out of your accommodation in Amboseli and exit the Park with game drive en-route to Nairobi. On arrival, proceed to Tamambo Karen Blixen Coffee Garden for your delectable lunch. After enjoying your lunch, proceed to the adjacent Karen Blixen Museum. This museum was once the center piece of a farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills owned by Danish Author Karen and her Swedish Husband, Baron Bror von Blixen Fincke. If you loved the movie Out of Africa, you’ll love this museum in the farmhouse where author Karen Blixen lived between 1914 and 1931. She left after a series of personal tragedies, but the lovely colonial house has been preserved as a museum. From the Museum, proceed to the famous Nairobi Giraffe Centre where you’ll get to encounter the endangered Rothschild giraffes and even hand-feed them.

Spend about an hour here before proceeding to Carnivore Restaurant for your farewell dinner beginning at 6:00 p.m. The restaurant’s specialty is meat that are roasted on traditional Maasai swords over a huge charcoal pit that dominates the restaurant’s entrance. The rough-hewn beams combine the rustic feel of a rural setting with that of a medieval banqueting hall. The restaurant also has a place for vegetarians who will be well catered for and in an all eat as much as they can set. From Carnivore you’ll be dropped off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your homebound flight marking the end of your Kenyan Adventure
